what is supplemental housing like?

I called housing and was told there are usually up to 4 roommates living together and they are usually in jester or kinsolving. I was also told that it was unlikely to get permanent housing until much later in the school year. Just wanted to know from someone who has lived in one or knew someone who did to give your overall opinion on what it was like? Thanks.

I lived (and will live again) on the 9th floor of Jester East, where all of our study lounges had been converted into supplemental housing for the first semester. I think that DHFS converts study lounges from top to bottom, so the higher floors have supplemental housing.

It’s really not bad at all – yes, four roommates share a room, but the room is easily bigger than two regular rooms put together. You also get an actual table and a usually a couple sofas, in addition to beds and desks. The only downsides I noticed were that there are no sinks in supplemental housing, and sometimes it gets a little cold in those rooms. Oh, and some of the rooms don’t have windows. But other than that, it’s really quite nice (especially for the deal they give you)!

My second roommate came from a supplemental in JE to JW. She said she liked regular rooms better.
But I’ve been in a supplemental in JW, and it seemed pretty cool. I only briefly visited each time, so it’s not like I got a tour. I think all the beds were lofted (raised high above the floor). And I think I only saw one closet, but idk for sure.
