Are the above necessary? I did my application via commonapp and did not come across any notificatiosn for such recommendations. Both my teacher recommendations and my councelor ones are more than excellent. However, I was looking through the stat thread of those accepted, and most people had them. Would someone mind shedding some light onto the matter?

I don’t think they hurt you, but if the recommendation is glowing, it can help.

Well of course. There was just such an emphasis put on not sending more recs than required that the supplemental ones didn’t even cross my mind, nor the application. I just had a minor freakout. shrugs Only thing left to do is wait and see.

Noooo, I do not think they want another rec. I was going to send it too but they said it’s not necessary…

^^Yeah, hope4upenn. The decisions were made probably a couple of weeks ago. They spend the last week or so going over the lists, maybe talking over a handful of ‘bubble’ applicants, and finally making sure they have an envelope for each and every applicant whether accepted or waitlisted or rejected. It takes a while to stuff 25,000 envelopes and make sure the letter inside matches the addressee! Nothing any of us could have done in the last 2 weeks could affect our decision either way, short of being convicted of a felony. The die is cast. Good luck.
