<p>If I'm planning to send in supplemental recs, should I have these teachers feel in the common app form or should they simply write a letter and send it into the admissions office. If it's the latter, how can I make sure that the letter will be put in my file? Or should the admissions office know if they simply put "Re: " on the envelope or in the letter? Thanks!</p>
<p>You don't really need additional teacher recs. That area of your life is covered sufficiently by the standard recs. If you have accomplishments of sufficient stature outside of school, then supplemental recs are appropriate.</p>
<p>Yes, I'm aware of that; I probably should have been clearer: the supplemental recs I'm planning on sending cover areas of my life that are out of school and won't be covered in my usual teacher recs.</p>

<p>The supplemental rec does not need to follow the Common App format. If possible, it should be written on letterhead. To ensure that the rec gets put into your folder (and not someone else) make sure that the rec writer include your DOB, as follows:</p>
