Supplementary Materials

On the FAQ on Rice’s website, it says that supplementary materials can be submitted. I’d like to submit a research abstract; however, how should such supplements be submitted? I can’t find an option on the Common App. Thanks!

I have no idea how to, but I was talking with an m who visited my school about sending in a letter of rec from my PI and/or sending an abstract. She said it’s unlikely they’ll even have to to read the rec, much less the abstract. They’ll just take it for face value if you included that you did Research on your commonapp. So maybe that’s why they don’t really tell you how to send it in? If you really want to though, I think you can physically mail the office it, but I would ask the adcom.

If you still want to send it, call Rice Admissions and ask! They won’t bite.

@pendragonstone Hi! I am applying RD to Rice and was wondering whether I could send a music supplement (I’m not a music major btw) so I sent them an email. They just responded saying that all supplementary materials can be sent to the admissions email, so I suggest you do that too. Good luck!
