supplements to application....(help me deal with my parents)

My parents insist on saving any article from local newspapers and whatnot that feature my accomplishments (sports honors, recognition from the state for a local leadership commission, etc.). They tell me that they intend to send it along with my college application when I apply. Is this a good idea (even if they just send the significant ones)? I am not sure that college admissions officers would want to see this extra stuff considering the huge pile of applications they have to deal with. Thanks.

i woundn't do it. anyone else?

They are dealing with YOUR application?

I'm going to do my best to keep them out of it but they are very obsessive over these types of things. My dad keeps threatening me that if I don't go to my Latin teacher to get a recommendation...he will.

Some colleges /do/ accept extra supplements like that, but it doesn't really mean you should do it. For performing arts and creative writing majors, for example, it can be a good idea, but I don't know about athletics. If you're being recruited to play, the school would already know those things, and if it's a walk-on situation, I imagine your academics are going to matter more for the initial admissions process.

In all honesty, why are your parents dealing with your application? You know that's one of the most common things that causes people to get rejected, right? Colleges can tell when your parents did things, not you. Be really, really careful with that.

ummm.... I think YOU should be the one to deal with this type of stuff.

I dont think the colleges would like applicants to send newspaper
articles, besides on applications colleges asks your commiuity services, leadership positions held, etc.. so I dotn think its necessary to send in the the extras. Good luck!!
