Surprisingly accepted; financial aid?

O.K. guys, I am still patiently waiting on my parents' tax returns to come in the mail so I can finish filling out the FAFSA and CSS Profile. As of now, I think I do not have ANY financial aid granted for me. What would be the best thing to do? Call and speak to a counselor? My parents cannot pay the full tuition, and May 1 is coming up very soon. I assume that everyone that has already received how much financial aid that they would be granted sent in the FAFSA around Feb. 15. How so? thanks

you still haven't filled out the FAFSA and CSS profile? that's why you didn't get any financial aid. you don't have to wait till tax returns to submit it and the deadline is march 1. even if you fill it out now you won't get that much money because it's basically all been used up

sorry to break it to you, but you seriously screwed up

Actually they insisted on signed tax returns as part of the package. So yeah you could have done the FAFSA and CSS based on estimates, but without those signed tax returns, they will not review your file.

Are you parents not helping you with this at all? No way would I have expected my kids to do the FAFSA or the CSS. They were welcome to see it - I am not hiding our information from them - but it would have taken them light years to figure the stuff out. BTW you need all account balances too - not just tax returns.

I would call them immediately.

^^ lol I did both CSS and fafsa. It's really not that hard, just takes like 30 minutes

I did both...was really confused....

I had to do both too, it was really hard since all my parents' tax forms are in Spanish and I had to translate the terms.

Forms aren't hard once you have all the information gathered. Call them and explain the situation.

thanks guys and sweetnshort i am not screwed up! everything's fine now the decision between emory and cornell..
