My child has been accepted into a college but with 15 school days left the child was suspended for 5 days for insubordination . I was wondering if the college will get this information since he will not be making up any work for the 5 days and would wonder why he has 5 days worth of O's on her class work ??? What is a parent to do ?? We have tried so hard to get to this .

Schools (and applicants) are required to notify colleges when major disciplinary offenses occur. You should be proactive and call/send a letter to the colleges your child was accepted to.

Wow... talk about stumbling before the finish line. Always have to close out on your run, but yes you will have to report it. If the offense is minor and maybe if you're close to the administration then you might be able to work out something so that they don't report it to the college, but that really depends on the HS.

I would HIGHLY suggest you post this on the parents forum. There are many parents who have been through this before and can give specific information. I would not notify the college(s) until you get some advice on that forum.

A couple of stories that might help you out:

I was suspended for 4 days (in my sophomore year of HS, though), and I made it to college :)

And I have a friend who got suspended for assault (a fight at a concert) just two weeks before his HS graduation... and he's doing very well at a prestigious liberal arts college today.
