Swapping during the first week? (Please advise!)

Hi everybody.

Today was my orientation (third year), and I was blessed with the ability to enroll in three out of my five top-choices. The two I couldn’t enroll in were for 1st and 2nd years only, but I need them in order to major in English (and ENLT seminar from which I can’t be exempt) and minor in Media Studies (MDST 2000).
The leaders told me that if I mailed the professors and showed up for the first class, a course-action form would allow me to take the classes, despite my third-year status. I emailed one already, and the professor said she would sign one and let me into her class (thank goodness!). The other professor hasn’t responded yet, but it’s only been about twenty minutes so...(haha).
My question is, because I am on financial aid, the orientation leader suggested that I enroll in two “back-up” classes; so that I don’t lose any aid. With that being said, should I just get permission to enroll in the classes and then swap out the other classes during the first week of classes? Is this normal?

Please let me know.
I was so upset about not being able to enroll in these classes! (eek)
Thanks for any and all help.

Also, will it negatively effect my transcript, dropping the two classes in order to accommodate the courses I had originally wanted to take?

Again, thank you for any and all help. I appreciate it.

the advice you were given is solid, they won’t even show up on your transcript if you drop them before the drop deadline 1-2 weeks into classes. switching classes is common.

I was in a serious hurry, but I always appreciate a fellow grammarian; thanks!

Okay, great. Thanks so much!!
