Rejected, but accepted from Williams yesterday. Rather confused…
Accepted; rejected from Pomona and Williams.
I didn’t expect this to happen; delighted.
I got rejected; incidentally, I was accepted at Pomona and waitlisted at Williams, @shlawendy. Basically no one from my school has gotten in to Swarthmore in the past few years (though many have tried) and I’m happy about some of my recent acceptances, so I’m not too upset. If you didn’t make it, know that this decision doesn’t define your worth. If you did, all the best, and good luck moving forwards!
Does anyone know the acceptance rate this year?
Belim99 - nope, she was rejected - I had written that in an earlier post that you probably didn’t see. She has choices though, so far she has gotten accepted to some less selective, but good schools: Macalester, Smith, St. Olaf (St. Olaf was her safety school and her last choice, but she did get offered a really big scholarship there). While Barnard is currently #1, I’d say Smith is a close 2nd. Still waiting on Barnard and several other schools. What is your area of interest/major?
St. Olaf as a safety, she’s doing alright. Good luck to all. It’s one hell of a lottery this college game.
I’m just a 17 year old kid that works at a laundromat in a small town in Eastern NC. I thought I’d be lucky to ever get into UNC. I would have never imagined of getting into a school like Swarthmore. Life takes unexpected turns.
I’m still in awe that I got into Swarthmore! Congratulations to everyone who got in—I look forward to meeting you all at SwatStruck next month or in the Fall.
For those who didn’t get in. Don’t worry about it too much. I bet you’ll still have wonderful options, and best of luck to you.
Hi,
DD2 waitlisted, anyone knows chances for waitlist at Swarthmore?
Waitlisted to Swarthmore. I was waitlisted to UChicago, too. I feel like waitlists are a polite rejection.
According to the 2017-18 Swarthmore Common Data Set, last year 44 waitlisted students were offered admission. It doesn’t say how large last year’s waitlist was.
2016-17 was 25 off of waitlist.
2015-16 was 26.
So they do pull people off of the waitlist but it is hard to tell percentage chance.
