Swarthmore's Discovery Weekend... who got in?

I guess I'll see you there...

and how exactly are the travel plans working out? do i arrange the flight and then confirm it or how does this work... the email was a little vague

I got in also, and I agree.... the e-mail is very vague. I think that we are supposed to make our own plans, (without paying for them), and then confirming/ going through the plans with their travel agent which is on the e-mail. I think that is when they decide to pay for everything, but I don't know, its extremely vague!

Hey guys I am going as well, yeah I don't really understand if I like tell them how I would prefer to travel there or what I am doing.... Where are you guys coming from?

I haven't received an email, does that mean I didn't get in.

Hmmm I don't know if that necessarily means you did not get it. I think they might also send out a letter of acceptance but I am not 100% positive. Did you get an email that confirmed that they received your application like a week or so ago?

Yeah I received an email that confirmed that they had received my application.

Ok well I would either wait it out a little or you could contact the person who emailed you originally and ask if they send out decisions through the mail as well. I would think you would hear something back from them whether through email or snail-mail. I wish you the best of luck and if you end up going, message me and we can talk on facebook before hand!

I got in too! =]
I think you need to make arrangements through their travel agent and then let them know once you've done everything.
And the email says that they send out a packet with all the details once you reply that you're coming and stuff... but nothing about whether or not they mail you an actual acceptance letter.

mnaire

I'm coming from kansas what about you?

I got in too!
I'm excited I guess.

I am coming from new york city

brandnewstate do you have a facebook? if so message me your name/url!

Congratulations to all of you!

If you are flying you need to contact their travel agent and make arrangements WITH THEIR travel agent. They will give you instructions. My daughter attended last year. She is a freshman this year and loving all of her classes and her classmates.

We had visited during her junior year. Going to Discovery Weekend gave her a better sense about the school. If you are serious about Swarthmore, Discovery Weekend will give you an opportunity not only to learn about the school first hand, but to meet some of the faculty members and do your interview, as well. You will then be able to write your Why Swarthmore essay with personal knowledge as to why you want to attend the school. Conversely, you may find that it is not the place for you. Either way, it is a win win situation.

Good luck as you embark on your search for your perfect fit!

I went to Discovery Weekend last year and it was an awesome experience. If any of you has any questions, feel free to ask me about it! And I go to Swarthmore.

dchow08- did you apply to Swarthmore early after you attended the program? Also was Swarthmore already at the top of your list before you went to the program or was it after the program that you wanted to go?

I got in but bleh, I found out about a week after I submitted my essay that I have a competition to do on that date -_-. I really wanted to go too...

mnairne: No, I applied regular decision and it was second on my list, below the University of Chicago. I got into both regular decision, but changed my mind and chose Swarthmore.

so far i've only received the email saying they have all of my stuff.

bah.

Aside from just travel arrangements through the agents, how do we get the Overnight Policy Form that they mention?
