Hey there everyone,

I am curious about what everyone thinks about the PEN2121 (Swim Fitness) and other Swimming Classes at FAU. I need one additional credit and these seem to be the easiest way of completing my degree. However, I don't know anything about Leonardo Rodriguez who apparently teaches these classes. Any thoughts on him? I googled the courses and Leonardo Rodriguez and found nothing.

Any insight about this particular class, or other swimming classes, as well as this professor would be very helpful. Thanks!

Wow…this is a funny post. I actually came on here to find out some graduate information…but I saw this and couldn’t help but reply.

Last year I was in a bad situation. I had 119 credits and needed one more to graduate. I looked into yoga, pilates, dance, and swimming. I ended up taking a Swim Fitness class with Leo Rodriguez. I took it because I used to swim in highschool and figured this class would be a breeze. WRONG!

First of all, if your girlfriend means anything to you, stop her from taking this class. The professor is a perv and spent more time looking at the girls in bikinis than actually running a class. If that wasn’t bad enough, the boys who take the class are are there strictly to get laid. We also had a written exam on the last day of class, which was horrible. I actually got a C on the exam because we received no instruction the entire time. My overall grade was “C” in this class, which at least meant I passed. If I could do it over, I would take something way different with a better professor. Maybe yoga or pilates.

Bottom line…if you want to swim, find a good aquatic center. FAU is NOT the place for this, and especially not with Leonardo Rodriguez. I’m surprised he’s still even a professor there. Do some more research and you will find other complaints I’m sure.

If you have any other questions, PM me.

hey i took the swimming fitness class at fau with leonardo rodriguez. i actually almost didnt pass cause of the final. he never goes over anything and expects u to kno the answers. but i also noticed what ademarco said was sooo true. he was always hittin on me and tryin to talk to me after we swam. the other boys in the class werent too bad just normal college guys wanting some but not pushy or anything i guess. the instructor was bad tho i would never take him again. u should look into other swim programs for ur girlfreind if she has her heart set on swimming

Thank you both for the reply.

Do either of you know anything about the rest of the swim department or any other swimming classes that MIGHT be good or decent at FAU? If not, do either of you know anything about other exercise related classes at FAU?

Thanks!
