Anyone hoping to swim at Yale? (walk-on?) I don't really think I'm good enough to do it, but I'd try if I were accepted.

I want to keep up with my swimming, but I'm certainly not cut out for varsity. I'd like to just keep swimming and get better. I don't exactly know common Yale times, although someone does, and you could probably find them if you looked hard enough.
What do you swim?

omg you guys swim!!!!! what strokes?

I do the 200 IM and everything freestyle (except for distance). how about you?

You can look up results of the swim meets and see how your times compare to the kids who are really swimming for Yale.

Good call whylion.
I swim the 50 and 100 free mostly. And I'm pretty slow. :)

free. usually the 200 or the 100. my dream event, however, would be the 50 IM, but I don't think that'll be approved anytime soon :(

haha, the 50 IM would be awesome! We have 100 IM in summer league meets here, and it's great.

Check Yale's swimming website. It has a page titled "Are you recruitable?" that gives you a general idea of whether or not your times are in their range. I checked and mine aren't, my 2:21 200 breast isn't the 2:10 they want, but I'm working on it. I'd obviously be walking on if I could, but I'm not sure that I can.

hmmm. im guessing those are the pre-taper results. Im pretty sure i can make them if I came off a taper though...

oh wow, i actually am in their breast stroke range (2:09)! i dont want to swim in college though, so it doesnt really change anything.

snap... a 2:10? that's guys, right? our girls' record is like a 7

wait... I was thinking 100, in yards, and 1:07. so disregard that one.... lol I choose not to remember my breaststroke times

I didn't want to swim in college, but I think I'm changing my mind. If I'm deferred EA, do you think I could try and get myself recuited? Girl~ :53 hundred free, :24 50 free, 58 100 fly?

musicnut- I think you have a great shot at getting recruited, but you'd better hurry up about it! you should probably send in a recruiting form asap.
