How crowded are the Hearst and Spieker pools usually, for lap swimming? I'd probably be using the fast lane.
Also this is kind of a stupid question but do you leave your clothes in the locker room or can you leave them out on the pool deck?

Only can speak for Spieker:
afternoon (10/11 - 1:10pm) - like reverse vampires, all the old people come out at night and flood the pool and during the night, they become absent.

night (~6-9) - it’s variable. some nights like Monday/Tuesdays can get crowded at first. thins out around 730 to 8. And then some nights like Fridays are just half full to 5-6 people. Of course, these aren’t exact. Just my observations from the past 4 years. Weekends are usually okay (sundays can get super crowded if it’s sunny).

you can either leave clothes in a locker or take them outside. although i guess you risk someone jacking them if you leave them outside.

For the times I’ve been at Hearst, there’s usually a few people in each lane (maybe 3-5 people average). I usually go in the afternoon, don’t know about early morning. It’s never too crowded that I can’t do my own thing.

You can get a day locker too (borrow a lock at the front desk). For Golden Bear and Strawberry, you have to bring your own lock or just risk it.
