Pools for a Novice

Hey all,

So here I am in Berkeley, extremely bored, so I've decided to start swimming once again. Problem is, last time I swam was four years ago, so I'm not good anymore. I would like to go to one of the pools to begin practicing again. How deep are the pools? Also, do they get really crowded? I don't want to embarrass myself and look like a noob in front of too many people.

Bump…

Golden bear, spieker, and hearst are usually for lap swimming only. I’m assuming these are deep all around.

On the other hand, strawberry canyon has part of the pool for laps and the other part for play. That probably is what you are looking for.

Swimming isn’t exactly something you forget…I went lap swimming a lot of times and since I’m injured, I have to go pretty darn slow. They usually have s, m, f lanes set out. Just choose the right lanes, tell the persons in them that you’ll be joining them and that’s it. Strawberry Canyon is a good choice although it can get kind of crowded from time to time. I never really found Golden Bear pool and I don’t know how to get inside to Hearst pool lol and Spieker isn’t too shabby though I dislike their open lap swimming times.
