Switch from regular USH to APUSH?

I tried to get into APUSH this year, but didn't get in just because I had a low English average (about 91) in regular/Regents English for the first two years and because I had a 91 first quarter in Global II, with 95s for the remaining three quarters and the Global Regents. To get into APUSH at my school, you have to have certain grades in both SS and English, do good at writing an essay, and have the proper teacher recommendation and I missed the cutoff by just one point. I think my current Regular US History class is too easy (I have an average so far of 92 or 93), and although my grades aren't too high, I really think I deserve to be in the APUSH class, because just by being in there, I will have a little more confidence to work harder and I'll feel a little better to actually have an AP class, since I'm stuck in the situation where I don't have AP classes junior year except for a college Spanish class through SUNY Albany (even though I plan to take AP Physics, AP Calc BC, and AP Music Theory senior year) because of scheduling conflicts. However, I'm worried my guidance counselor will say no, since she's saying "the line has to be drawn" as well as having to bring this to my parents, as they don't want me to take harder classes because they think that I have to have a higher GPA, since I want to go to Columbia University or NYU and major in Computer Science. I know that I will have missed a lot of work, and I could self study, but I want to be able to take APUSH since I've heard it's an amazing class, and I'd be more than willing to make up the missed work - any help?

just ask already and explain this all to your gc. i didn’t read all of it, but i’m assuming, since it’s so long, that you have some sort of an argument.

but you’re going to have A LOT of work to make up.
