Switch major before career hunt? Is it worth it?

I made the college mistake of choosing and sticking to a major that I am not really happy with. For a career, I am interested in Public Relations and Communications, but I am a Political Science major.

These are my questions:

-For a career in PR, how important is it to have PR listed as my major? Or would a minor in Mass Communications suffice?

-If I were to pursue a major in PR, I would be graduating a semester later, would this matter to an employer? Should I risk the extra semester in college for a chance at a better major and more job opportunities or should I graduate on time in Spring 2020 with a major in poli sci and a mass communications minor?

Look on Indeed or the like and look for job requests for Public Relations jobs. What do they require?
I see things like “Bachelors degree required” or “Bachelors degree in related field”
They seem to want much

Talk to you Career office at school and ask them.

Talk to your communications professor and ask them.

Do you have any interest in politics? Can you become a PR/Comm type person for political types? Then having the PoliSci major and Comm minor would be good.

Nobody cares if you graduate “on time” (except whoever is paying for it…so make sure it could get paid for.)
