I was accepted ED to Duke but there's one problem. I'm taking 7 APs, I have 6 A's and in AP Physics I have a D. The class is overwhelming, I can't keep up and I'm horrible at math and science (majoring in polysci). How do I go about switching out of this class into honors physics for the 2nd semester without being revoked/is there a valid excuse that I can give Duke as to why I'm switching out?

ALSO, if my guidance department doesn't let me switch out and I do end up with a D, will I my admission be revoked? any input??

PLEASE HELP!!

I’m pretty sure you can remove yourself from a class at this point. Depends on your school policy but for me, it’s April 11th deadline for dropping. Go to your counseler and explain your situation, I was told they get it ALL The time. you have to report to Duke that this happened.

just to clarify: i can easily get out of the class through my school, its Duke’s response to this that i’m worried about

Does your school have a grace period to drop the class without it appearing on your transcript? Or did you already tell Duke that you were taking the class?

Call and ask your admissions counselor and see what they have to say about your predicament…I dropped one of my core classes (calc) and replaced it with 2 independent studies at my school after getting a D in it. My school (Notre Dame) okay’d this so you should try doing that too…your move is probably better since you’re only moving down a level as opposed to dropping out completely, not too mention you’re a social science major so that ought to play into the overall scheme of things. Idk Duke’s policy entirely but at the moment, I’d say you’re okay.
