Is it possible for a student to change majors to architecture? I'm asking about a friend of mine, who is about to start community college.

Assuming he gets in via a different major, can he later change it to architecture? Is there still a portfolio requirement and everything? Thank you!

Yes, there is most certainly a portfolio requirement. Also, although I’m not 100% sure, I don’t think it’s possible to transfer into USC Arch without being an Arch major at another school. The program is 5 years and you learn step by step, with your projects increasing year after year. I’m pretty sure that if you transfer, you start at “year 1” in the program.

Arch is a really intense, difficult major! It’s not something you can really decide you want to do and saunter into during your junior year.
