I applied to the College of Chemistry and was accepted, but now I’m thinking of majoring in something else, probably physics. How hard is the process to transfer colleges. Is it even possible without reapplying? Thanks for the help in advance.
If you want to switch to physics, you would have to change your college from the College of Chemistry to the College of Letters & Science. You’re in luck here - while changing from L&S to Engineering or Chemistry is notoriously difficult, from what I have heard it is quite easy to switch from another college into L&S undeclared. You would then declare a physics major after taking the prerequisite courses. You can find more information on the change of college here - https://ls.berkeley.edu/advising/academic-progress/changing-status/change-college-ls. It seems that the required minimum first-semester GPA to change into L&S at the beginning of your second semester is only 2.2.
So in summary - it’s definitely possible, and it seems that for the switch you’re doing, it’s quite easy.
