switching from early action to regular decision

ok so i originally wanted to apply to Caltech early action and gave my counselor/teachers all the forms and stuff and I think my counselor sent them out a week ago and i have everything done except for the essays but the thing is that caltech is on the commonapp and once i send in my application for caltech, the commonapp is locked...

and now i've decided that the commonapp essays are too important to be rushed and sent in in like 3 days because some of my top choice colleges are on the commonapp like stanford, harvard, upenn, yale, etc.

so what i want to know is if i'm allowed to switch from early action to regular decision for caltech.. i don't think any of the forms actually indicated whether i was applying early or regular.. will they just receive my counselor/teacher stuff extra early then?

As of October 19, you can make changes to the Common App even if you've submitted it to one school (you just can't make changes for that school).

If you haven't indicated to CalTech that you're applying early action, it's no problem that they get the rest of your application materials early. Indicate RD on your common app and you'll be fine.
