Does anyone know how easy it is to switch between schools at UConn? I am currently business undecided but might be interested in switching to nursing. I just had orentation and signed up for classes. I’m my opinion it seemed like the Business core really limited one’s ability to explore other majors(this is bad as I m interested in a lot). I’m worried that if I ever wanted to transfer to the nursing school it would be a problem because it is so hard to take science classes as a business major. I only managed to squeeze one in as I’m in a learning community and that took up one of my classes. The science is physics which I wouldn’t mind(exposure to maybe some engineering?) but it’s a course designed for non-science majors and as I’ve taken physics before I am scared this will be too easy and I’ll enjoy it and switch and then discover it’s actually all too hard and be in a dilemma. I have emailed my advisor about switching the science course I gave to a chem course(which I would need special permission for) or a psychology class(which covers both business and nursing core) but she hasn’t answered my email.
This post is really getting all other place. I am just really really really stressing. I thought I would have more opportunity to explore before the business pressure started but I was wrong. Every one is telling me I have plenty of time to figure it out but my classes for the next few semesters are practically set in stone or I will fall behind in the business school(for example if I wanted to switch to their engineering management major I would have to know by the end of my first semester in order to stay on track). This would become an issue if I ended up wanting to stay in this school.
Long story short. Help! In any way any advice. Tell me if it’s hard to switch. I guarantee you anything you say to me, any wise guidance you have will be more helpful than my advisor.
Have you spoken with you advisor? They would be the best contact for these questions.
I have emailed my advisor. I did so right after my orientation as I was not able to meet with her at my orientation because she was away. She never responded.
They are probably away for the summer but should respond by end of August.
