I applied to the Bioengineering Program in the College of Engineering, however I would like to switch to Biochemistry in the College of Science. I can do it, but I was wondering if it is a good idea, whether it is too late or whether I should just stay put for now. Thank you!
You can switch your major after acceptance via the student portal: I would just wait until then. The difference won’t affect your application with how relatively similar the two subjects are.
@bighoss123, wouldn’t this be the sort of question that your regional admissions rep could best answer for you? The one that represented our area was really helpful with questions like that.
Sure you can switch majors after being admitted. My son was admitted for biochem and actually switched to undecided before ever setting foot on campus. What I’d want to know as an ED candidate is if switching before admission decisions are made impacts your candidacy. Are bioengineering and biochem candidates held to the equivalent standards during the admissions process? I don’t think anyone here can answer that.
