Switching majors

This year was my first year at UNH. I was a Culinary arts student and hated it, and attempted to switch my major to psychology when I returned from winter break. Well today I got the letter saying I was not accepted. I called the admissions office immediately, but they're closed on Sundays, so I'm calling tomorrow to see why I was rejected and to see if I could possibly switch to the undeclared major at the Liberal Arts school.

My ultimate goal is to stay at UNH, but I doubt I can persuade the admissions office to accept me into the undeclared major. My other option is to stick with my current major, which I hate, and because of this there is a lack of motivation, which is reflected onto my grades. I have about a 2.6-2.7 average I would say. My program is also only a 2 year. I would also have to get an internship at a restaurant for the summer, which I don't want to do because of an awesome job I have lined up for myself in the summer.

My other option is to just apply to other schools, which I would hate to do.
I'm just asking for some advice from someone whose gone through something like this, or anyone really...
