I really can't decide between majoring in Economics of Engineering, so if I were to end up putting Economics as my first choice how difficult would it be for me to switch to Engineering if I later realized that's what I actually wanted?

It would be easier to start out in engineering. You are very likely to be granted a transfer into McCormick, but because of the sequential nature of intro engineering courses its harder to start a quarter/year delayed if you decided to initially do econ and switch to mccormick later on (but many people still do it).

That being said, Industrial Engineering/Economics might be the single most popular double major in the school, so you really could do both and it wouldnt be a problem.

Just do engineering + econ; many people do that (thanks partially to the quarter system) and dilemma goes away. IEMS+econ is by far the most popular combination. But other engineering + econ are pretty doable within 4 yrs if you come with some APs.

Easy peasy. Friend did it before his freshman year started. Went from Econ in WCAS–>Engineering undecided.
