Switching to engineering?

Hi,

I've already been admitted to the University of Michigan, and I listed chemistry as my major. However, now I'm thinking about chemical engineering. It seems to offer more career opportunities. Is it possible to contact the school to change my major? I know that engineering tends to be more competitive. Would it be better if I just study chemistry for the first year or so and then switch? How difficult is it to make the change? And who should I contact?

Thank you!

Engineering is considered it's own seperate college from LSA. You'd have to wait a semester before you could officially transfer, but I think as long as you let an advisor know what you're doing, you'd pretty much be able to take the same classes you'd be taking if you were in engineering.
