advice about transferring to engineering

Hello
I think I want to change from LSA honors to engineering.
I read on the website that this is possible by fulfilling the prerequisites, 2 maths, chem+lab, phsyics+lab, and a cpu-class---but has anyone any experience or know people who've switched?
-I ask because I heard from a friend of someone who tried to switch but the school made it so hard for her that she actually transferred to MIT instead...
... I'm also a little scared. I know engineering will require ful commitment- lots of science and math. I'm not really that kind of guy (a science and math guy), but i really feel like this degree would a) put me in a good position for many useful jobs (i want to help the environment, so environmental engineering), and b) pursuing this major would REALLY give me a good challenge in my college years- something to really make myself fight for.
So, I'm not sure if it's right just to be pushing myself like this if I dont enjoy the topic/ I'm not naturally gifted in such problem solving. Yet, if there's a will, there's a way: I have the will to make myself useful. I have the will to work hard. Maybe that'll yeild enjoyment in itself. I'm sort of excited to find my potential here.
Please, if you have any advice I'd appreciate it. Thank you (and sorry for the rambling).

Wouldn't you be better off doing Program in the Environment through LSA if you're not that much of a math/science kind of person?
