Syracuse Acceptances

Nope, at the beginning of alpha, and haven’t heard yet.

We are the beginning too! Oh well! 2 days left!

interesting. lol I wonder how they do it then.

I just received an email saying I was wait listed for Musical Theatre so I’m pretty sure the next wave has begun!

Check your email. Did it say waitlisted for Visual and Performing arts or college of arts and sciences? At first I thought I was waitlisted for Musical Theatre, then I realized it was for the college of arts instead, which is strange because I got into Northwestern and Usc. Whatever lol

My D got waitlisted for MT!!!

I’m 100% positive - the email said “Based upon your academic achievement and personal characteristics, we wish to offer you a place on our admissions waitlist for the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Department of Drama, Musical Theater program.”

i still havent received anything…is it on the website?

My D got waitlisted too! But the concern is they won’t let us know until after May 15 - so how does that work, since we need to give decisions at other schools?

You must choose a school among your acceptances and put a deposit down on one school by May 1, the National Reply Date. The way wait lists work is that if a student is offered a spot in the class, it typically is not until AFTER May 1 at any school. All colleges know this. If offered a spot in the class off the wait list during May (or even June!), and you want to take the offer, you then pull out of your original school but lose the deposit. Then, that school will offer your old spot to someone on their wait list. It is a domino effect.

So, I auditioned for MT and got waitlisted for a BFA in Acting… Does anyone have any idea what my chances are of getting in now?

I heard that 30 students were given offers to the BFA acting program last year and all 30 students accepted the offers. Syracuse usually strives for a class of around 25 BFA acting students. There is a new head of the drama department so it is possible that the number of offers given and procedures for the wait list differed this year. You may want to contact the drama department to try to ascertain how many offers were given, your place on the waitlist and how selecting students from the wait list will be handled and to express your continuing interest in attending the program.

i STILL havent heard from them! …i called and they said it could take up to a week…ugh. anyone else not heard?!

tinydancer24: My daughter is still waiting as well! Very frustrating! Best of luck to you!

If it works the same as in the past, the fact that you have not heard yet should not be discouraging. Syracuse over the past 4 years has sent out letters in about 3 waves, with each wave containing both acceptances and rejections. There have been students accepted in the 3rd wave with significant scholarships so I don’t think which wave you are in really means anything other than being a reflection of operating logistics. Hang in there!

MichaelNKat: Appreciate your perspective, thank you! Crossing fingers, toes and anything else at this point!!

yeah, its my last chance. thanks!

Hi all!
My name is Tyler, a current Freshmen in the dept. of Drama.

I have spoken to teachers in the dept. and admissions representatives and can reassure you that SU does send acceptances in waves and that it is merely a reflection of how fast they process acceptances and has no bearing on how good your audition was or if you will receive scholarships/acceptance to the program.

The last wave was scheduled to go out on April 1st but it is usually a couple days late.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions of concerns I would love to help!

Sincerely,
Tyler

thanks Tyler!

sttttiiiillllll waiting
