I am so sorry to hear this. I have been following your story. My son was fortunate have been admitted in the first wave but he was waitlisted and rejected from several other schools including his top choices which I thought he had a decent chance at. What i have learned in this admission cycle is that all the rules have changed and targets are the new reaches in 2022. His best friend was still waiting on a decision from Syracuse as of the other day and now I am afraid to ask the outcome. I wish your daughter the best of luck.
My daughter was accepted to Whitman today. My heart goes out to those who did not get good news and for those who have not heard yet. Itās been a very long process for sure. Good luck to everyone moving forward. I am hopeful they will all have good experiences wherever they choose to go!!
Historically these decisions are the ones to be released the latest.
Happens year after year.
The decisions are all made itās just how they are released. The last release has historically the one with waitlist and rejections.
Not sure how many apply but I think Transmedia / VPA takes about 60 students a year. Itās hard to get into. Donāt know the acceptance rate. Iād guess itās small though !
I was rooting for her too.
Does anyone know why so many kids were waitlisted this year? Housing crisis? Over enrollment from last year?
Thank you all for your support. This was the most difficult journey we have had in awhile. Trust me, we have had plenty from Dx of POTS and Dyslexia, our home burning down and COVID! Not that Iām looking for sympathy, because Iām not! Just saying that there is plenty of stress in the world. This I feel was extremely unnecessary stress. The anxiety and disappointment of each day waiting was awful. If a school is planning on a rejection then just do it but to let these kids watch others get acceptances and being left in limbo is cruel. This whole process is a mess. Our D just made her decision. University of Tampa with a sizable scholarship. It may not have been on the top of the list but it feels good to be going to a school that wants you. She is now excited and putting these past weeks behind her.
Iām glad to hear she is excited about the University of Tampa. Wishing her lots of happiness.
Best of luck to your daughter! (The weather in Tampa will definitely be an improvement over upstate NY!!)
I am a bit surprised by Syracuseās tortuous process, thatās for sure. Many students and families probably have no clue how odd
it really is since they heard in the first couple waves. We are still waiting to hear, which seems absurd. (My sonās friends think he is lying about the fact he hasnāt heard yet!)
In any event, I feel fortunate my son has great options (he already got into his #1 choice), so weāve taken Syracuse off the table. I definitely wouldāve appreciated SU administration being more transparent & less misleading from the get-go though. Thanks to everyone for the intel, etc., these past few weeks.
So confused!! My daughter was waitlisted. Ranked 4 in her class 4.2 GPA mock trial has taken forensics classes 7 AP classes honors classes 2 sports Tons of activities, awards. Worked here but off last 8 years etc!! WHAT IS GOING ON???
My daughter was accepted last Friday (computer science). No merit unless comes later, which doesnāt sound likely having read through this thread. FA tab on MySlice says 2023: No financial aid at this time.
She was waitlisted at UConn, Virginia Tech, WPI, Binghamton, U of Miami, rejected from Lehigh (her #1 choice), Villanova, U of Maryland, Stevens Institute of Tech.
She was accepted to Fairfield, Marist, Wheaton (MA) and Pitt. All gave substantial merit except Pitt. We are visiting Pitt 4/9 and she thinks she will commit. Itās substantially more affordable at full rip than SU.
Tough year for our kids. I feel like the colleges are trying to navigate this bubble of Covid gap-year kids, if thatās what it is, and our ā22s are feeling the substantial brunt of it.
Im sorryā¦thats a lot to go through!!
Ironically, I guess upstate NY is not likely for me, so my next option is Univ of San Diegoā¦we will both be basking in the sun instead of a frigid winter in mounds of snow!!! Next year we can look back & be grateful where we landed !!!
Although, I might possibly end up at UMASS Amherst, in that case Iāll remember that your daughter is basking in the sun!!
I hope your daughter feels better quickly, I know this is disappointing
Yes she seems a bit relieved the waiting is over. She is staying on the waitlist for Tulane but it looks like she will be a Spartan! I went to UMASS Amherst and loved it but U of SD sounds even better. Great weather! UMASS winter is like Syracuse.
None of it makes sense. Trust me. We were told our D was perfect for the school, great interview, showed a lot of interest, great grades, lot of extras oh and school rep even said her application read really well. So not even to get waitlisted was a big slap in the face.
Iām sorry. My daughter has POTS too. I hope your daughter has a successful, uneventful freshman year.
Thank you same to yours as well.
All the best to her! Her amazing spirit is to be admired! My son is still waiting for the Syracuse decision; at this rate seems its a rejection. But we got into MSU! Go Green! Not a full ride but we got a good amountā¦Relief all round hereā¦
So crazy, my daughters first choice was Pitt and itās the only school she was waitlisted at! Accepted to Syracuse, UConn, Binghamton (for spring though), Stony and UB!! Pittās campus is fantastic! Youāll love it!!
Waitlisted yesterday. After all that. Declined spot.
What a strange admission cycle.
Son offered wonderful merit/grant at Skidmore, Holy Cross, Providence, Fairfield and UMass Amherst.
Syracuse asked for financial doc in Jan, sent us pamphlet for FA 2022-2023 in Feb. Only to WL him.
Anyway, good luck to everyone wherever you land, it will be the right place.
