Syracuse Class of 2026 Admissions

My kid still hasn’t heard anything.

Same. Spoke w Admissions today. Apparently my son’s is still “in review.” The woman I spoke to sounded surprised. Said it likely will be out in “the next couple days.” :woman_shrugging:t2:

Anyone know when need-based aid will be allocated? Apologies if this has already been asked.

My kid is convinced that not having a response at this point means rejection. Given the responses of experienced people on this thread (and the results of the decisions sent out on Wednesday), I don’t want to artificially keep kid’s hopes up, so I’m not saying anything.

Exactly. Same here. We looked at last year’s thread on CC and there were some admits in April, but given the stats of many of the kids who’ve been rejected or waitlisted this year, it seems pretty unlikely. Looking forward to this process being over!

What was the major they applied to?

We are still waiting too. My daughter received her acceptance and merit award on March 12 so we got a little worried that she still didn’t have any FA update on her portal. She called them on Thursday and they said everything was submitted correctly but they just hadn’t processed hers yet.

Thanks. This is helpful. We couldn’t get through when we called. I’m assuming this will end up being loans rather than awards, but still holding out faint hope.

Just received my daughters decision last week. She got in but received no aid. I called and they said there were 41000 applicants this year

Congrats on the acceptance! Yeah, I heard about the 41,000. My daughter did get in a couple weeks ago with the chancellors scholarship. Feel so blessed BUT got no grants, so it’s not enough still. With proof of financial need, they are open to an appeal. So we sent in all our information and are hoping for a grant. So is Syracuse still on the table ?

Is it known how many were waitlisted?

Arts and sciences

The number seems to be a big secret.

Syracuse students just completed securing housing/dorm for next year. There is not a housing crisis at Syracuse. Upperclassman may not get their first choice, and are encouraged to have a 2nd and 3rd choice. A Student may be bummed they did not get their first choice, though there is a dorm/room for all. There are designated dorms for the Freshman Class, there is also no housing crisis for the incoming class.

Is it known if every applicant has been notified of their decision?

My kid has not been notified of a decision. At this point, I’m not sure how not notifying an applicant is different than putting them on a waitlist. Schools can take students off of a waitlist whenever they want.

Still waiting

My son was accepted to Syracuse into VPA back in late Feb-early March. It really came down to DePaul University’s film program (College of CDM) vs VPA at Syracuse. He got an academic Presidential Scholarship from DePaul, nothing from Syracuse. After visiting both, he was much more impressed with DePaul’s program, facilities, resources, networking opportunities (esp w CineSpace exclusive to DePaul University). Plus the fact he’s right in Chicago, so for a film major, that was an important factor.

He just accepted his admission offer/commuted to DePaul. He gave up his spot at Syracuse in the VPA program. Hoping it opened up a spot for someone who is waitlisted and it’s their #1 school!

Congrats to all and good luck next year! As I told my son when he was so devastated when he got a rejection (on his birthday no less) from his top pick overall, Chapman, you will end up where you are supposed to be. After seeing the college he ultimately decided to attend, I think he actually believes me

I’m a DePaul grad, both undergrad and MBA. Terrific school! He will love it! Lots of opportunity for all majors in the city. Best wishes as he starts his studies this fall!

Oh my gosh, I needed to hear this so much!! Thank you for sharing! My son is heartbroken that he was waitlisted at Syracuse and we are going to visit DePaul on Friday. He is deciding now between DePaul and Ithaca but DePaul gave him a lot more in scholarships and aid so I am so hopeful that he is excited about it.:heart::heart:
