Syracuse Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

hi guys - I’m a freshman at cuse in newhouse who was literally in your exact position last year. I applied ED and ended up getting deferred but honestly the wait was worth it because I still am exactly where I wanted to be – and when march finally came around it was even more worth it.

a few things (keep in mind I do not work in admissions/do NOT have connections to admissions. I am speaking off of what happened last year + years before that):

  1. syracuse tends to drop decisions on Friday’s from 5-5:30pm. during that 30 minute period, if accepted your admissions acceptance form should update on myslice before you get the email. this doesn’t always happen, but it could.
  2. Unfortunately, if they are going to do what they did last year and other years in the past they do it in waves so not everyone may receive their decisions tomorrow. Again- speaking off of last year as someone who lived through this and talked to multiple people who had the same experience previous years, there will probably be 2 more rounds Tuesday or Wednesday night if it was the same as last year. The last two rounds end up being mainly deferrals with a few acceptances (I know multiple people who got both accepted and deferred in those rounds, so if you don’t hear tomorrow, it’s not over yet). The first round on Friday night they release the most decisions with mainly acceptances and rejections. Doing it this way is definitely not the best approach and as someone who heard last year in the second wave and was deferred, trust me I understand. Just remember that at the end of the day a university does not define you and you will end up where you are supposed to be. Deferred isn’t a no – universities are a business and if it is not a yes it definitely has little to do with you and everything to do with the school.
  3. Everything happens for a reason so please don’t stress as hard as it is not too. You will end up at the right place, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment.

SERIOUSLY - good luck to you all. I am SO beyond happy at cuse as it was literally the perfect fit for me and if it is for you too the school will see that. and honestly if they don’t its their loss, not yours. you will find your school.

If you need any advice let me know – feel free asking stats, questions about newhouse and cuse, deferred advice (about my letter of continued interest and what I did to make myself stand out as a deferred applicant), or really anything!!!

Me too - it just doesn’t feel like it today

I really think its tomorrow

welp, no one knows.

yes I know

How well do you think my chances are on Cuse? I applied ED to Newhouse BDJ.

3.4 GPA
no scores
5 AP, two college courses
I attend a technical high school, so not many rigorous academic class opportunities.

EC’s: Varsity Cheer 4 years, Captain 3 years. Competitive Dance all 4 hours with captain 2 years. Volunteer Program Director for youth cheerleading all 4 years. Homeless shelter volunteer. Cancer fund volunteer, volunteer dance teacher, volunteer math tutor, ASL Club, 2 part time jobs, SkillsUSA Reporter (I generated school and chapter press releases, retrieved news about chapter/school before released to the public), Pep Rally organizer 3 years, MealsOnWheels volunteer.

Demonstrated Interest: Interview, meeting with admissions counselor and what felt like 3,000 emails to him, many virtual sessions with Syracuse, Newhouse, and Falk.

Very eager to get these decisions back. I’ve gotten into all my other schools so far with decent sized scholarships, but Newhouse is so competitive I am nervous.

She was deferred not rejected

Did anyone ED to Bandier

Yes! They only accept 8 or so ED applications for Bandier

I did too!

In previous years Bandier has had around 1200 applicants and they take 25. That’s like a 2% acceptance rate. Insane

anyone ed to falk, if so what major?
