I was told a while back that I would have to pay about double what the FAFSA said my family could afford. When I asked for a Fin Aid review, I was sent this message:

"This year Syracuse University is packaging students to 100% of their demonstrated need using the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Due to this new packaging strategy we are not able to award additional need based aid to students unless there is a financial hardship."

Does this mean that they average CSS and FAFSA, take the higher? and could my CSS and FAFSA be that far off from each other?

Is it true they meet 100% of need?

What are other peoples packages compared to their FAFSA's?

i remember in my CSS profile i put 2000 for how much my family decide to pay each year and then i got a 48k package from SU, well it’s a combination of scholarship, grants, loans and work study but anyway it seems like they really do try to satisfy 100% of need based on your financial status…i just love the generosity of SU=]

They did not meet 100% of my need, not even close. Would have cost me $42k to go before loans, about $36.5k after student loans. My EFC was about $10k lower.
