Okay I applied ED to SU (the Newhouse school) and got in. Today I went to my financial aid profile on My Slice and it had updated financial aid info. I did fill out a CSS profile and submitted it, but have not yet done a FAFSA. My online profile says that I recieved a $15,100 dollar SU Grant, a $2700 work-study program (that I most likely will not take) and a $3500 Fed Stafford Loan. Are these numbers estimates or are they for sure? Will the money I get from FAFSA be additional to these awards or are these awards estimates of what FAFSA will give me? Thanks in advanced for your help! :)

cuse_nerd if you don't mind can you please share your sat score and gpa...i'm just curious

hey. i was ED last year. Fafsa doesn't give you money. it just lets the school know how much you're supposed to be paying. in my case, fafsa told me that i was supposed to pay about 5500 dollars. however, im paying about 14000 this year. it worked out because i had money saved and stuff but fafsa just tells you what's "supposed" to happen. last year, after my fafsa went through, i contacted the financial aid office and they upped my finaid by 4000. im not telling you to do this but if you need more money ASK! the worst they can say is no. they cannot repel your acceptance.

wait, so basically all I'm looking at getting is 15,000? Thats not good. Mocho, My SATS were 1220 and GPA was about a 4.12, weighted
