I got an email, but I don’t have my SUID yet (haven’t gotten anything in the mail), so I can’t activate my MySlice yet. I have the strangest feeling that I did something wrong, though.

In past years decisions have been done in batches. The first batches have went out before dec 15. I have seen in past threads that people have found out as early as Dec 10th. Does anyone know when we should be hearing this year ?

anyone know the percentage for ED applicants admitted to Newhouse??? my grades are slightly lower than the Newhouse average, but I have done tons of broadcast journalism experience in my school and community. Do you think that will help me at all if I send in a reel, even though they say they won’t look at it?

I would assume they are higher than regular decision. Based on last year’s Syracuse University ED thread, there are kids that got in with a 3.0 GPA ( took a few challenging classes), while standing out through other ways.

Regarding the audio clip you want to send, that might be difficult… I’m applying for Broadcast/Digitial Journalism as well, but I emailed counselors articles that I had on ESPN and CBS Sports… I also gave them the screen shot of when the article was when on those sites. Anyway, my point is its easier for them to print off and actually file it with the other info for your application.

If you mentioned it either in your essay or activities list, you should be fine.

Was I supposed to receive a letter in the mail with my SUID?

Nope, I received it via email.

In my email it says I can activate it, but they say the SUID is only in “the letter”. I don’t see any given username, so I’m pretty confused right now…

Nevermind; I found it, hahaha.

My SUID was in the email. I had to activate my NetID, then I was given an username and created a password.

You guys all seem to be applying to Newhouse. I’m applying to the college of arts and sciences for psychology. I have a 90 average and my SATs are 530 in reading, 540 in math, and 580 in writing. I am part of 2 varsity sports, am very involved in writing activities in school, have won awards for the Syracuse stage playwrights contest, athletic awards, etc. I am part of odyssey of the mind, and I am vice president of music honor society and ski club. In all honesty, do you guys think I have a chance at getting in?

I’m also in national honor society, a member of my church, and have a job.

Well, we can’t really determine if you’re in or not, your essays also make up for a lot of the decision, as well as the supplements. Moreover, saying that you have a “good essay” won’t justify an acceptance either. All you can really do is just hope for the best. The worst that can happen is that they say “no”.

Don’t worry too much about it, just don’t ask for chances. All it does is change your confidence, and that won’t affect the decision. What has been sent is sent.

You’re right. Thanks!

Coaster freak, great point!

@XCcoasterfreak so did you get the SUID by e-mail? hm… I’m also having a problem with the SUID as you mentioned above; the most recent e-mail from SU said I will soon receive the “mail” which will include my SUID, but I didn’t get any e-mails after that… so I thought I had to wait, but since everybody got their SUID already, I’m confused here.

Yeah, I found it. It was a little confusing because it didn’t jump at me, but I got 2 e-mails from Syracuse around the same time. If you got the e-mail regarding applying for Financial Aid, your SUID should be the top left of the email. It arrived before the e-mail telling me that an email would arrive soon.

This is how it read for me:

A side note, I just noticed the Financial Aid deadline for ED applicants. So if you guys also read-over it, the deadline for Fin Aid is December 1st!

ok… well since I didn’t get any e-mails about the financial aid yet, I guess I have to wait then. Thank you XCcoasterfreak!

The only thing I’m concerned with is my first marking period grades being received… Grades in my school closed November 16th, the day after the deadline. I contacted SU admission counselors and they said to send it as soon as possible. Since grades weren’t finalized in the system until this past Monday, my counselor told me they were sent out the following day ( Tuesday morning).

Hoping they not only received it by now, but that it won’t affect my application right now. I’m hoping they are still continuing to get all of the application info filed, and begin making decisions next week.

It’s also missing for me, the first grades that go on our transcript don’t come out until February. Oops?

Anyone else wish we could jump ahead to december 10th?
