*Syracuse University Class OF 2016: Early Decision Thread*

A Syracuse admissions counselor replied to my email. She said that the decisions are released anytime from the middle to the end of December. As of now, according to her, there is no specific date listed…

Though, I think it’s fair to say that Dec. 15th is an accurate day to predict.

I called the admissions office today. Basically, you will get an e-mail on December 15 with a decision.

@wrupps… Awesome! Thank you for letting us know officially… 17 days

last year decsions were releced as early as dec 10th

December 10th is a Saturday… Would they release decisions on the weekend??

That was last year, and it was on a Friday. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll find out on Friday the 9th.

Chiming in here…SU ED is usually released by school (i.e. Newhouse, Bandier, Whitman, etc…)…over the past few years, they were not released together during the December period…in fact, two years ago, Bandier Music Industry was notified on Dec 20th or something late like that…

Just a heads up to those waiting…

I’m going in for an interview tomorrow. I know it’s late in the game but they said they’d let me come in. What kind of questions should I expect?

@moranp i had an interview about a month ago in the City at the Lubin house it was very informal. You can show up in anything from jeans to khakis and they wouldn’t care what you are wearing. I was pretty nervous before the interview but right as I walked into the building I was no longer nervous and wanted to display to them that I was confident but not arrogant. They’ll probably start off by asking you about your life and family. Then move into some academic questions like about your high school or favorite class. Every now and then they’ll go on a tangent about some connection they have. Then they’ll ask you why syracuse. Make sure you say something unique that you wouldn’t find at another school bring something new. For example I talked about programs that Whittman holds that I believe can help me as a buisnessman. Finally he/she will ask for questions and they should be specific dont ask about class size or social life because you’ve already applied and that should really affect you.

Okay, gahh what kind of questions should I ask? I don’t really have any!

On myslice it says I don’t need to send in my parents’ W2 forms, but on their financial aid page it does. Should I send in the W2 forms tomorrow, even though it doesn’t say to on myslice? If I send them tomorrow they probably won’t get there by the first, but if I have it postmarked before the first, will that be okay?

Being postmarked seems ok. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah you have to send that stuff in.

Hmmm… I’m not sure if I sent in my W2 forms. However, it appears I met all of the requirements on myslice so worst case scenario I could just tell them it’ll be a day late. I can do overnight shipping and it will get there on time.

Is it me or does anyone else think there is more ED applicants then years past ? Do you guys think the acceptance rate will be close to the usual 78% for ED.

@nyr2626 what makes you think it’s more?

The ED acceptance rate for Syracuse is around 78%? Didn’t know it was that high…

To answer the question, I say possibly. Though it’s a stretch, with the recent scandal at Syracuse, maybe there will be a drop in regular applicants ( for whatever reason). They already know those who apply early are making Syracuse their first choice, so they try to accept a lot out.

As for number of applicants, who knows. If it did increase, I don’t think it’ll change too much.

I think Syracuse will still have an increase of applicants even with the scandal because there was an article about Penn States apps increasing even with the huge scandal they have because people are still inclined to go to these big schools but im sure it will have a bigger effect on recruited athletes but im not sure to what extent.

do you guys know if early decision applicants will be notified through myslice or through actual mail?!

We will be emailed first, and then followed up a week later by a letter… At least that was the procedure last year.
