Syracuse University Early Decision Thread Class of 2017

I hope they get in by tomorrow. Since I live in buffalo and they were sent in on Wednesday they didn’t travel far…

does Syracuse require first quarter grades? they don’t come up as missing on myslice

wait guys im freaking out my tax forms are going to be late and in by Monday probably. do you think this is going to hurt me? also for FAFSA it says initiated , but apparently we don’t have to have that in anyways for ED ?

SO happy I found this thread :slight_smile: I also applied ED, sent in my application at the end of October. 1980/2400 on my SATs and ranked 34/398 students in my class, which puts me in the top 10%. PRAYING syracuse will be my home for the next 4 years!!! @bcuse11 you’ll probably be fine, i haven’t heard they’re too terribly strict on their deadlines…

Are you guys as excited/nervous as I am? I hope it’s true they send their notifs in waves starting the 14th… I can’t wait much longer :p

@calimeggy thanks ! and I’m so excited too …literally if I dont get in I don’t know what i will do with myself. everyone in this thread has such high sat scores it’s kind of scaring me ): I hope I have a shot . do we know for sure the 14th is when things get sent out? I wonder when it will be up online. a friend of mine got accepted into Tulane and she was just checking online to see if everything was in and there was a congratulations later. i rather find out through mail though

@bcuse911 don’t feel bad, cause my SAT scores are pretty crappy :frowning: and I know from last year that they send you a direct email with a link to your acceptance/rejection letter but it can be the 14th or the 21st. And yeah, most schools now let you know through an account but they send out a letter in the mail as well which you receive a few days later.

5 days…!!!

All of you need to relax a bit, hahaha. Don’t be so tense!

Hi everyone!!

I enjoyed reading all of your posts because, as expected, I’m applying ED too! I originally sent in my application as regular decision but after I visited the school, I knew Syracuse was where I wanted to spend my next four years. I visited the school to just walk around and I happened to bump into the undergraduate engineering recruiter while I was there (I plan on going into Aerospace Engineering)! He gave my dad and I a private tour and then set me up for an interview (which is where I switched my application to ED) and a campus tour at a later date.

I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA and about a 3.7 weighted (not including my AP classes). I have a 1740 SAT score along with a lot of extracurricular activities and around 300 volunteer hours

Good luck to everyone!!!

Oh I forgot to ever post my stats!
GPA: 2.8 (That’s weighted…let’s not talk about that…)
SAT: 1970 (reading: 640, math:680, writing: 650)
I didn’t take the ACT.
This year I’m taking 6 IB courses and 1 AP course, and I’m expecting my IB diploma in June. (If I don’t get enough points on my exams I’ll get an IB certificate.)
I don’t have many ECs, but I do a lot of community service.

And I’m not really sure what else goes in stats…

5 DAYS!!

Hi guys!

I have a gpa of a 3.7 from fresh-junior, but first quarter i got a 97 gpa. Do you think that will help me a lot, in the decision making? I’m really nervous abut syracuse since my sat and act scores are not good. 1660 & 24. I mentioned to the director of admissions that I get really nervous during testing and he took it into consideration, but I already got rejected from one school and I know it’s because of my testing. I’m so unbelievably stressed out. I do have lots of extra curricular activities and community service. Oh yeah I’m also applying to Newhouse ED, but I didn’t put down considering any of the other separate schools (business, art &sciences etc) on the application and I’m wondering if I’m going to regret that now. Everyone has higher test scores and it’s not helping my paranoia.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE !

is anyone else freaking out?! i don’t think i can wait 5 days!

Hey everyone!! I can’t even wait until Friday… like literally I can’t.

Anyway, I am applying ED to Newhouse (first choice) as a Canadian International student with a 3.6 gpa and 1870 SAT score.

Good luck, everyone… especially those as nervous as I am!

@dplax24 I’m freaking out!!

I’ll be extremely upset if I don’t get in but whatever happens, happens.

Curious, but did anyone here apply to architecture?

just a question, how does everyone know we find out Friday?? did I miss a letter or something?

this is a stupid question but if denied from your #1 choice (Newhouse) will I be put in regular pool for the other school choices I put down and have to wait for a decision whenever the regular students get their decisions?

@bcuse in previous years admissions go out in “waves”. One will come out this Friday, and another will come out the next. Also if you get denied to your first choice I’m pretty sure you still know by Friday/next Friday.

@coheno I’m in the same boat as you. Low ACT score but it’s because I forgot a calculator the day if the exam…(how embarrassing). I still managed a 24 though. And I got a 95 average first marking period. My interview went pretty well, my recommendations are from pretty great teachers who I’ve known forever. I know my essay is excellent, I spent so much time on it and showed basically everyone in my schools English department… I do tons of ECs. So I’m hoping to get admitted I don’t see myself anywhere else…

Heads up for those who don’t know, if you are accepted into a 2nd or 3rd choice, but not your first, the contract of attendance is no longer binding, meaning you have until May to decide.

@bcuse911
You’re still considered for an early decision, it’s just that your attendance won’t be binding because it’s no longer your first choice. The binding contract for attending applies for acceptance into your first choice major/department.
