Syracuse University Early Decision Thread Class of 2017

It is laughably obvious japple95 post is a moronic fake, a cry for attention, and a poor attempt at humor aimed at nervous serious candidates. All you SU ED hopefuls should just relax and ignore it.

I would like to add that historically,International applicants are notified on a slightly different schedule that domestic applicants. Please don’t assume japple95 is a hoax, there just may be more to the rejection than reported.
Again, best of luck to all!!

Admissions is still sticking to the party line of “mid December.” When I asked specifically about tomorrow they said probably not. So good luck and hold on!

Not to be disrespectful, but there is no way that japple95’s post is true. I think it is just someone who is trying to freak everyone out. Everyone on here seems to have a good chance.

Btw, last year’s regular acceptance rate to SU was 49% and their ED acceptance rate was 77%. Hope that helps in calming some of you down.

I’m sorry to hear that japple!! that’s do strange and doesn’t make sense. all I know is if your denied I’m denied no doubt

@suzie when did you ask???

I called this afternoon around 2:30 after all the above postings from today.

Well the 15 literally is mid December so lets hope… I really hope we find out tomorrow though :///

I find out from four schools on the 15th… kinda scared.

Another college forum site lists the decision date as 12/16…

Princeton review says the 16th

Last year it came out on the 16 which was a Friday so…

is it definite that the architecture school heard back already??

no i dont believe anyone heard yet…unless they applied for spring semester. My patience are running thin…idk how much more i can take

Good luck to all you ED students waiting to hear. My son is RD for art/design. I was wondering if anyone knows 1) when RD students start hearing acceptances, and 2) how heavily the writing score on the SAT is considered for art students?

If anyone knows, I’d appreciate a response. Thanks!

@CareerMom66 I am not sure when RD finds out but i would assume during march sometime? and I think they would consider writing just as much as the other subjects…but then again they tend to take into consideration things such as…many people that are highly into the arts tend to be worse off with subjects like math…they do take that into consideration. My friend who was accepted into newhouse 3 years ago explained to his interviewer how he is horrible in math and she just laughingly said “most people in newhouse arnt good at math” Also i would say put a lot of effort into supplements and the essay.

Thanks, fcormz. My son is an A student in AP English, and he’s a good writer if given the time. He doesn’t do well on timed tests. He scored near 600 on math and reading, but only 470 on the writing. He did go on an interview about a month ago and explained his situation, so I hope they do take into consideration that he’s been a consistent A student in English.

Hey, everyone! I’m applying ED as well.

Here’s my two cents:
Students found out (first) on Fridays the past two years. Two years ago the first wave was on Friday the tenth, last year’s first release was Friday the sixteenth. I am assuming that the first wave will start going out tomorrow at around three or four o’clock.

We obviously haven’t heard a committed date of when we will hear, but we haven’t heard a definite one of when we won’t, either. Admissions doesn’t want to lead people on. We’ll hear whenever we hear, but for now, let’s all just take a deep breath. I’m nervous, but I’m excited!

RD comes out around march 15 I believe.

Thanks, buffalogirl95. Hope you get in!
