General Comments & Advice:
Clearly you don’t have to have to best grades or test scores. Syracuse takes a very holistic view of things. My advice would be to write very personal essays and to make sure that they include why you want to attend. The school wants to know that you want it. If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask.

from CT

hi! I found out on friday that i was accepted to Newhouse and the honors program! So excited
Just a few stats:
SAT (M/CR/W): 740/770/750
ACT: 32
GPA: 3.89 and top 5% of class
I’ve held 2 jobs for the last two years
I took APUSH, AP Lang, AP Calc AB, and AP Psych last year. This year I’m taking AP Gov, AP Lit, AP Physics C, AP Italian, AP Calc BC, AP Human Geo, and AP Stat.
I’m VP of my class, Secretary of Italian HS and Key Club, and Opinion Editor of my newpaper, and I’m involved in several other clubs.

Super excited, I could be attending but I have to hear back from the rest of my schools!

So what I’m getting here is mostly honors students got acceptances already

@loveyounot and/or scholarship winners

Is the consensus that if one did not hear yet, then they will not be receiving a scholarship or be accepted into the honors program?

I think that is a good assumption, however so far we’ve heard from people who’ve received $20K and $15K, maybe there are still the $10K to dole out.

From their scholarship page:

“The Founders’ Scholarship ($20,000 annually), Chancellor’s Scholarship ($15,000 annually), and Dean’s Scholarship ($10,000 annually).”

@karstu I actually disagree with @paparent106. They might be doing things differently this year, but last year I applied ED and was accepted in the first round. But didn’t receive my acceptance from the Honors College until May. So it’s hit or miss. There’s still hope for either. Then again, my Founders Scholarship was only $12,000 and I’m now leaving Cuse because I can’t afford it (along with some other issues). So who knows. There’s no set formula unfortunately.

Does anyone know when we’re supposed to hear about financial aid?

Sometime early March I believe

Accepted to Martin J. Whitman School of Management!

SAT: 1840
GPA: 4.0

@adcdepp1 did you apply RD and did you receive a scholarship?

I got into Newhouse School for Television Radio and Film! I can’t believe it! International student here.

Regular Decision
SAT: 1780
IB points: 34 on my last report, 36 out of 42 predicted (I think)
Very strong EC’s.
Strong essays.

No scholarship yet, but I’m REALLY hoping I get one in the next coming weeks because I might not be able to go because it’s too expensive, and this is my dream school.

I just got into the Whitman school of management. No scholarship… I’m so surprised since I expected decisions to come only towards the end of March?

Congrats! I’m assuming you’re Indian because of Bleed Blue? If that’s the case, then its because the letters for international students came out this week. One of the officers told me this. Do you think the scholarships are still on the way? I really hope so.

Did more people find out today?

Just got conditional admission into Newhouse for Public Relations as an international student. Is there any chance that I’ll get a scholarship notification later on?
