Ok Please give me some help..I'm struggling here...

These schools were both tied for my 2nd place school. 1st was NYU, but they didn't offer me near enough aid..

I really like both schools, and both also have some things I don't like. I want to major in International Relations and another major, probably business. I'll be visiting them next week, but I wanted some feedback..
The big problem is that at American, I'll have 8,000-10,000 per year left to pay (all will be in loans).
Syracuse I'll only have about 3,000-5,000 per year left to pay. But I like the city and atmosphere of American way more than Syracuse, and I think I would be a better fit at American. But Syracuse is also fantastic, and I like their core curriculum and course offerings somewhat better than American.

So should I choose American where I'll have more debtload and (most likely) a better time, or Syracuse, where I'll have a very low debtload, but not sure if I will enjoy it as much? Also, do you think the academics are comparable to each other? Is one school more superior to the other in that way? And, which would be better for International Relations?

Everyone I know at Syracuse really likes it. Whereas everyone I know at American is dissatisfied. Purely anecdotal, but still…I’ve never heard of anyone REALLY LOVING their time at AU.

Syracuse also has a more diverse range of programs…which is good, just in case you change your mind about your major.

I don’t know anything about either college but I have been through Syracuse, NY and drive by American in DC every day and hands down American has the much better location. They are in a very nice section of NW Washington, DC which is a great city to go to college in.

I can tell you firsthand that Syracuse’s IR program is very underrated on the undergraduate side and is one of the best-kept secrets out there. Undergraduate IR classes are taught through the world-renowned Maxwell School, with professors who are often the leaders of their fields. Many foreign countries routinely send their rising diplomats to Maxwell (for graduate studies, of course), but the experience that undergrads get at the school is amazing as well. It is definitely worth looking into.

I would go to American. Being an IR major and right in Washington, D.C. can’t get any better. The extra debt isn’t that much more, and I think you would have a much better time at AU
