Systems Engineering- ABET Accreditation

I was just recently accepted into SEAS and I listed my major as Systems Engineering. However, upon revisiting the site, I have realized that the program is NOT ABET Accredited. All of the other engineering programs ARE ABET accredited....does anyone have any idea why it isn't accredited? Should I change my major because of this? If anyone can give me insight into this problem that would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry guys but I am really stressing out over this. I should have done more research.

I’m not sure why it isn’t ABET accredited however, Systems Engineering is a fairly new program in SEAS (and also the smallest besides Applied Science I believe). And I wouldn’t change your major based on that. Pick the major that interests you and excites you the most. I’m a systems engineer and it really doesn’t bother me that it isn’t ABET accredited. For some scope, University of Washington has a top Computer Science department and it isn’t ABET accredited.

ok, thank you!
