Do they all work well in Berkeley? What's the signal strength in Unit 3 like?

T-Mobile: From the looks of their map, there appears to be a cell tower located right in the middle of Unit 3. You should get excellent coverage there (5-bars outdoors, somewhat lower indoors).

Verizon: Based on personal experience with PagePlus Cellular, a reseller of Verizon (meaning same coverage, call quality, and network), I received four bars in Unit 3 during CalSO. The coverage is great. I'd highly recommend it if you want your own cell service.

AT&T: Not sure about that...

I have T-mobile and it worked fine when I visited for Calso!

I was just at Berkeley today - full 5 bars with AT&T both indoors and out (don't know about inside the dorms though)

I have T-Mobile. it was perfectly fine outdoors and in the dorms. I had some problems inside of the lecture halls though.

at&t was good in the dorms.. i dont remember how many bars but it had to be 3+ to be that clear.

i suggest get the cheapest plan....

AT&T has a ~15% or so student discount. I don't know how it works, as I'm on Verizon, but I constantly see the signs.

Verizon works pretty much everywhere I've wanted to call from, but I am sick of CDMA and will probably be switching to AT&T once my contract expires later this year. :P

how do you get this 15% discount?

GSM for life ... go for ATT!!!!!

if more ppl have Att then you get that unlimited mobile to mobile dealie

AT&T ftw! !

Hey, I have an iphone - honestly, big dead zone around Sproul with AT&T. Works great (4-5 bars) everywhere else ---- not so much around Sproul.

You're TOTALLY right about the dead spot but I found how to get service in Sproul! Turn off your 3g if you need to make a call there! Then it works! Let me know how it works!

Have AT&T. Works great in most places. Had T-Mobile and Nextel in high school and hated them.

I have Veizon...I get service everywhere. Real test: see which provider offers service at the bottom floor of Moffitt ;)

dang it..now that im up here more often. tmobile sucks. no reception in classes, elevators, and many other areas. omg i want to switch out asap

T-mobile is awesome. I have connection everywhere I go. Don't blame the service, blame the phone.
