Table Salt

Some time ago I found a link to what I think was called "Table Salt", a collection of sayings the Plebes have to memorize. I think I found the link on the CC site. I can't locate it now. Does anyone know what I am referring to?

I think it's from Plebesummer.com, something like www.plebesummer.com/reef_points or if you google it, there are a few geocities website with it.

hope it helps!

I googled it before I posted that question. I googled again and still didn't find it.

http://www.napcnt.org/The%20Gouge/gouge/page21.html

There's the big stuff...I don't know if it's everything though...I highly doubt it.

You can go onto E-Bay and purchase last year's copy of reef points along with the training schedule that lists what plebes must memorize from the book. Here's the link

http://cgi.ebay.com/Reef-Points-Plebe-summer-USNA-Annapolis_W0QQitemZ7008744014QQcategoryZ268QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

don't buy last year's reef points, but if you want a heads up, memorize the 11 general orders of a sentry, "how's the cow", "what time is it", "how long have you been in the navy", and "the man in the area" by teddy roosevelt. also the 3rd and 5th "laws of the navy". but from my experience, even people with older siblings who told them what to memorize found it difficult because its not simply memorization: its recitation when you're being yelled at, interrupted, ridiculed, and made to begin over multiple times.

definitely agree....you can memorize everything in the book but it's a completely different situation during an inspection when you have a SSgt. two inches from your face.

Memorization is one thing....but without bearing it's useless.

Why, do they change the Reef Points from year to year?

I tried the www.napcnt.org site and it says entry is denied. I know I was on the site before, once, I remember reading the rhymes and things.

yes they do change reef points.

There are changes, but not sweeping ones.

Ah hem... about the last deffintion for "Zoomie"...
::grumble::
But humerous that there is still that academy rivalry even at that point. Im sure at AFA that there is something similar.

Thanks, Snipper, that was the one I was looking for.

???

You get to that page just by clicking the "Next" button from the preceeding link. Is that what you were talking about?

"WUBA: Working Uniform Blue Alfa; Black Dust Collector (Unverified report that this term is no longer used - ??) "

NO this is definitely no longer used. that site had a lot of questionable definitions, but this one takes the cake.

WUB-A was changed to Winter Working Blue my 2/c year. It was a source of great pride, and quite a few chuckles, when my classmates (and I did it, too) would announce over the 1MC that the uniform for the day was Working Uniform Blue Alpha.

It was fun sticking our finger in the eye of the administration. :D

WUB-D was the summer uniform.

Problem was, WUBA was commandeered to stand for "Woman with Unusually Big Ass", and applied to female midshipmen. Since only males in this country can be made fun of, the designation was, of course, frowned upon.

Still, the best comback I think I ever heard was a female mid who was coming back from scuba class. When asked if she was learning to dive, she replied, "Yeah! I'm a Scuba WUBA!"

She was VERY popular, because she didn't whine about it. She simply flipped it over. Earned great respect from her fellow mids.

So there it is in a nutshell...

There are a few others you'll pick up. "Blue Whore" for one, referring to your rack. ;)
