Does anybody know anything about Taft that isn't obvious. Like what are the people like? Or something along those lines.

I'm interviewing there tomorrow so is there anything that I should know?

Random info and opinions would be nice.

Hey, I’m interviewing there tomorrow too! Good luck :)

It’s a terrible school for terrible students taught by terrible teachers.

Whoops! You said nothing that wasn’t obvious…

it was actually very nice. it seemed like a perfect fit for me.

@deepsy: when did you have your interview? I might’ve seen you.

@tennis: chillax, you probably go to hotchkiss. calm down don’t constantly bash the school just b/c you have a rivalry. the best rivals are the ones who respect each other.

I absolutely loved Taft, I actually have a friend there so she’s been telling me good things about it for the past year. I could definitely see myself there so I really hope I get accepted.

Before saying your interview time on this forum for all snooping admissions officers to see check out this thread: [thread]427714[/thread]

Oh, whoops I totally wasn’t thinking. Is there any way to edit my post?

Oh…so I guess I shouldn’t say things like “I only have one arm”
… it’s also my “hook.”
Yarrgghhh… ahahahaaa
I slay myself

hahaha
that reminds me of monty python-> “ya’ arms off!” - “its just a flesh wound” lol

sooooooooo any random info?

ok well I guess this isn’t very helpful but… i visited and HATED taft. it seemed so boring and nothing really popped out at me. Also, the dorms were absolutely disgusting. The tour guide was dressed really sluttily too. haha

how did the tour guide dress slutty?
m.o- the dorms just weren’t top quality but they were fine.

When I visited Taft I looked at the yearbook. I saw a big picture of a pot leaf and a couple of pictures of people drinking things with blurred out labels. This did not leave a good impression on me. My interviewer did though. I asked him what makes Taft different from all the other schools. He went and got a poster of the campus. He told me there was three main things. The first thing was that the academics weren’t cut throat. He said they were challenge but everyone was supportive of each other. The next thing was about the campus. He pointed at the picture and told me about how everything was close together. He said this created a really strong sense of unity, but that the school still wasn’t too crowded. The third thing was about how they put a strong emphasis on community service. He said that anyone who is able to go to Taft is very fortunate and should help those less fortunate than them. He also asked me if I knew what the motto was and I accidentally said not to serve but to be served instead of not to be served but to serve. I was really embarrassed but he didn’t notice at first. This was during the summer and I visited 9 other schools. Without his answer I probably wouldn’t even be applying to Taft. It really helped me get a first hand opinion of the school.
I didn’t think the dorms were any worse than any of the other ones I saw.
