TAG agreement to UCSB for economics & accounting major from DVC?

Hey guys,

I have some questions that I’d like to ask.

I’ll give short bullet points aka cliffs of my questions

Currently:
-full time community college student at Diablo Valley College in SF Bay Area
-work full time job (45-50 hour work week)
-will apply to UCSB as a transfer from DVC by end of next year or fall 2017
-one counselor told me about the TAG contract (transfer admission guarantee)
-counselor did not have much information about the contract
-major is accounting
-cumulative gpa is 2.480 on my “unofficial transcript”
-messy first year upon graduating high school in 2013
-^lead to me dropping out of my first semester at DVC, have 2 W’s and 1 F on transcript
-was out of school for almost a whole year until financial and personal situation improved
-have no choice but to work full time job
-challenging balancing full time job + school for grade

Questions that I’d like to ask about the TAG program is what gpa is exactly needed to qualify for it?

Does the accounting and economics major fall under TAG or am I screwed?

if I get accepted into UCSB as an accounting and econ major, will quit my full time job, and just study full time for focusing on school, compared to now while at a CC

My school’s counselors were unaware about the requirements zz

Thanks

See http://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/applying/transfer/tag and also the tag matrix pdf at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/guarantee/ which shows required gpa

If your counselor doesn’t have much info about TAG, find another counselor. Helping students xfer to a 4-year college is what they are paid to do, it is inexcusable not to know such basic stuff. This is especially disappointing since Diablo is the 4th largest source of UC transfers to UC according to http://www.latimes.com/local/education/la-me-uc-transfers-20140515-story.html Drop this lemon and find someone better!

UC counselors visit Diablo regularly. It doesn’t look like UCSB is coming soon, but meet with a rep from any UC that has TAG and they should be able to help you out. See http://www.dvc.edu/enrollment/transfer/reps-visit.html#UC

“-will apply to UCSB as a transfer from DVC by end of next year or fall 2017” Not sure what you mean by that; UCs only accept apps for xfer in Fall to enroll at UC the following Fall.
