TAG approvals Nov 1-15.

@HopingToXfer

I just got the same message!!

"…It is important to remember
that in order to maintain your TAG eligibility, you must meet the following conditions: "

so i’m guessing it WAS approved because it says maintain TAG eligibility?

What does it say on your UC account? Does it say “under review”?

@mermaker

it says “UC Response Posted”

and it links to a long vague message…

I got the same message for the UCI TAG! My status no longer says “under review”. Rather, it says “UC Response Posted - View” and links me to a new page that says “You have successfully completed your online TAG form to UC Irvine for fall 2013 admission.” Yay! (?)

@casscain hahaha Yay! (?)

pretty much sums up how i’m feeling. can’t tell if it’s an acceptance or general letter…

edit:: this is for UCI TAG

I got the same message. I’m sure it means we’re all in, but they can’t explicitly say that. The TAG is like the unofficial application to the UC one so they need to make sure you didn’t lie about grades and classes. The UC only confirms your TAG which is what will get you in. They can’t say, YOU’RE IN SO DON’T WORRY ANYMORE because they still want you to complete the GE’s and maintain the gpa. It’s like when you get accepted in the spring; you’re in, sure, but you need to maintain the gpa and keep taking the classes that you’re taking or else they take your admissions away. I talked to a UCI rep in October at my CC and he said as long as you got the message asking for the UC app, you were in and to just make sure you meet the reqs to keep your TAG.
Those are just my two cents haha

Well if that’s the case that’s awesome. Wish the letter was a bit more definitive in their response though.

The UCI TAG message is VERY similar to the UCSB one. Here’s mine from UCSB:

Thank you for your interest in UC Santa Barbara. You have successfully submitted your online TAG
form to UCSB for fall 2013 transfer admission. We now look forward to receiving your University of
California transfer application during the November 1 - 30 application period. Apply at
[Apply online | UC Admissions](Apply now | UC Admissions). When applying for admission, please indicate your TAG
submission on the UC transfer application and remember that your transfer admission guarantee is
only applicable for the major you indicated on your TAG form.

UC Santa Barbara does not provide an admission evaluation or early admit decisions as part of its
TAG program. When you apply to UCSB for admission, we will review your TAG and notify you of your
TAG and admission status beginning mid March through the end of April. It is important to remember
that in order to maintain your TAG eligibility, you must meet the following conditions:

• Complete the required courses in English and mathematics with grades of C or better by the end of
fall 2012 for fall 2013 admission.

• Earn an overall minimum 3.20 GPA in all UC transferable courses by the end of fall 2012 and maintain
a minimum overall 3.20 GPA through the end of spring 2013, and meet major prep course and GPA
requirements for majors in the biological sciences, economics, engineering, and computer science.

• Complete all other TAG requirements as outlined in the UCSB Fall 2013-2014 TAG by the established deadlines.

If for any reason, you are unable to meet the conditions of the TAG; an offer of admission will
depend on your completion of transfer admission requirements and selectivity in the applicant pool.
Students who do not meet all TAG criteria may still be competitive for admission to UCSB.
Thank you for submitting your TAG form. UC Santa Barbara has much to offer you, and we look
forward to your becoming a part of our vital educational community.

Sincerely,

Office of Admissions
University of California, Santa Barbara

Yeah the letter is pretty general, but I was talking to people who did it last year and they were saying that they did get in with that message (again, assuming you do all the reqs). Plus it’s not a rejection, right? Those come out too so there is a difference between rejection and acceptance. It also depends on the major and its reqs too. My friend doesn’t have his pre reqs for the major done and he will not be able to get them done by the time the spring semester is over, so I don’t know if his department will not accept him. His UCI tag was approved though so that’s another thing to consider.

I mean if they say “UCI/UCSB has so much to offer you…”, it just sounds to me like you got accepted and they want to make sure you decide to finish the UC app and send it to them. :P

@clamfest: Anteater hopeful here!

@UCdrone: holla! Hope we all get to post in the UCI housing board in the spring…you know, because we all got in!! :D

@ clamfest:

I’ll look, just to say hi, but I actually live 7 miles from UCI. I’m glad the news looks promising for us all. BTW, which major did you TAG to?

So did everyone who TAG’d receive this email? If there were rejections does the letter look any different?

@UCdrone: oh dang haha. Well that’s still cool though! I live near no UC’s except Davis but it’s like almost an hour away D: I TAG’d for film. I wanna minor in digital art too. What about you?

My email looks pretty much like larinaga’s.

Yeah if anybody else TAG’d for other schools, show us what the message looks like! I got a feeling it’s kind of the same for everyone.

@clamfest when you say “everyone” do you mean everyone who tagged or the letter from each UC tag “acceptance” will look the same?

I mean the letter thing, as in, ASSUMING you met all the TAG pre-reqs, I think that the “acceptance” notification on the UC website will be the same. Basically just as vague. I really don’t think any UC will explicitly say on their TAG acceptance message that they were accepted to the university and only need to submit their application. After all, we know that UC’s will want to see fall grades regardless. So to answer your question, both I guess? Haha.

So it seems that everybody is confused with the vague “acceptance” letter from UC TAG, but has anyone received a UC TAG rejection letter?

^Well that’s kinda the whole problem. We don’t know whether that email means acceptance OR rejection. Without knowing one, we cannot determine the other.
