UCSD will not be reviewing TAG apps

Oliver_Twist informed me of this a few days ago and during a conversation with the UCSD admissions counselor that I've been speaking with since last year, she confirmed that they won't even be looking at TAG until the general UC apps are submitted.

I'm not sure if this has been established already, but just thought I'd pass on what I heard.

UCSD is the Kremlin of the UC system. They just really don't like leaking out info and when they do, they're always the last to do so.

Very interesting UCSB told me a similar story today and I thought they were wrong!! My Bad!!

WHAATTTTTT HVEIQGNQBNNBOQVQhgosahgak
so basically they’ll let you know when youre in…when you actually get in?

What about UCI? I’m qualified, but I forgot to fill-out the TAG app.

Wow UCSB too?

Yes, Grimes is correct: UCSD will continue its inveterate tradition of being exceedingly hesitant to be helpful to its applicants, and will not be informing us with a TAG decision by November 15.

Does anyone know if UCSD will release TAG decisions at all? If so, when? How did they notify last year’s TAG applicants about their decision, and when did they do it?

Sharing your grief,
Oliver

^ They never let you know. Last year you either got accepted in April or you didn’t, they gave no indication whether my TAG was approved or not.

@SMCguy: You’d have to call and ask UCI, but they probably will. UCSD is the worst with this kind of stuff.

@jls3588: I believe UCSB is sending out decisions, yes.

@Oliver: The counselor I spoke with, who knows her stuff, said UCSD will not be sending out news one way or the other regarding TAG apps prior to April. She actually said UCSD isn’t even going to look at them and instead will rely entirely on the general UC app. So yes, looks like we’ll be waiting until April again. Last year it was the same way.

Great about UCSB. At least I will hear about TAG from my first choice! Hopefully sooner rather than later.

that’s fine for me. lol
ill know if i get if i get a 3.0 or not this semster

Dude, if UCSD is not going to give ANY indication whatsoever about TAG, then don’t we have a reason to be worried? I fear UCSD might ignore that we even check-marked “TAG” and will just simply verify our GPA against their “cut-off” – which means those of us with borderline 3.0s may not even make it in this year.

I don’t want to have to call UCSD on April 30, only to be told again to go through an [exhaustive] appeal process, and then 4 weeks later [June] be denied yet again!! Ugh!!

It’s UCSD. Until I have my student ID card in my hand and I’m sitting in class on the first day with all my fees paid, I think there’s a legitimate reason to be worried. We both know the cluster that is UC San Diego.

I know it’s sad, but I’m honestly expecting something to go wrong. It just has to…

I’m totally with Grimes on this one. UCSD has screwed up one too many times before; if everything goes according to plan I’ll be quite surprised.

Haha and here’s another member of last year’s class who can vouch!

you guys make me so nervous for ucsd its not even funny. im going to change my username to DntFckUpUCSD

^ Seriously. I’ve had my heart set on UCSD (even worse is my desired major is impacted). Sonofabisssshhh!

LOL @ at the last two posters

UCSD is my out of high school dream. <333
if i get accepted i told my friends id dye my hair red because tritons = little mermaid = red hair hahah

^ UCSD is my out of highschool dream too! This is such sad news… I’ve been checking my email everyday since October 15th xD. I wonder why they do this D: I wonder how the UCSD adminstration deals with this… they screwed up big time when they sent those false acceptance letters like they did some years back ><. WHATS WITH THEM!?!

But I still love ucsd ><;;

Yeah UCSD is kinda like the abusive husband. Somehow, I keep coming back.

Last year I clicked on the TAG box and I was accepted during the first round. I wasn’t able to transfer at the time. Anyhow, it was super simple for me and I’m hopeful for the same this year.
