TAG for UCD not approved

Hi guys, just a few hours ago the TAG decision for UC Davis came out and mine was not approved. I applied for computer science and have a 3.96 GPA. The reason that they gave for the rejection is:

After an evaluation of your coursework, the following UC Davis major preparatory course(s) were deemed to be missing:

ECS 36C

However, I selected the corresponding course for ECS 36C in the “my coursework” section in the TAG application. I also completed the course in fall 2018. Can you guys help me to see what’s up with my rejection?

This is posted on their website @ https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/transfer-admission-guarantee/decisions

"Q: I believe that there has been a mistake regarding my TAG decision. What should I do?

A: We encourage you to apply to UC Davis for fall admission by submitting your UC application during the application submission period—use the comment field to tell us why you think a mistake has been made.

UC Davis gives every application a thorough review and evaluation. Although all TAG decisions are final and appeals will not be considered, you may still be eligible and competitive for admission to UC Davis through the regular application process."

Unfortunately, their decisions cannot be appealed. I wish you the best of luck!

Maybe the course in your CC can’t satisfy ECS36C. You may want to check the agreement for this year again

Thanks for the reply! I would apply for fall admission but I just want to know if it is a mistake they made or I added the wrong course. I am afraid that I would get rejected again for this ECS 36C in the regular transfer admission if I don’t figure this out.

My CC doesn’t have an agreement for 2019-2020, but it has the agreement for 2018-2019, which stated the course I took satisfied their ECS 36C course. BTW, how do I attach links for images here?

I’m not sure if there is a way of attaching files to replies. Just links. I’m a new member, lol.

I would suggest meeting with a counselor before Nov. 30th. You may have to do drop-ins, as appointments may be booked for the rest of the month (like at my CC). That way, they can verify if transferable courses may have been updated.

For example, I was planning on applying to UC Berkeley, but they recently updated their required courses for my major prior to transferring. That course was offered this semester at my CC, but won’t be available next spring. That is why I’m suggesting meeting with your counselor to find out if their might be another course offered to satisfy that requirement. You could then add that course on your application to UCs so that admissions can see you’re planning to take it by next spring.

@kc1021 - Why are you asking a thread? You should be calling UC Davis Admissions & telling them you’ve taken the course that they claim is missing from your transcripts. Don’t speak to your community college counselor about this; they are not UC Davis Admissions… nor is anyone on this thread. Everyone on this thread is just opining about something they have no experience in. Throughout life, always go directly to the source… in this case, UC Davis Admissions.

I am closing this discussion. Please post these questions on the existing Davis TAG thread. Thx.
