I heard that UCSD’s biology courses BILD 1 and 2 covers a good part of the MCAT. I already got AP credit for both of those classes, but should I take them anyway to prepare for the MCAT? I won’t be able to get credit for those classes if I take them, but is it worth it to review the biology?
If that is not a good idea, what is another good alternative to prepare for the biology topics in the MCAT?
Buy a MCAT prep book for biology topics for $35. Or even enroll in a MCAT prep class. Both are cheaper than taking 8 credits of coursework for which you’ll earn zero graduation credits.
The purpose of undergrad coursework isn’t to prep students for the MCAT; the purpose is to teach you the fundamentals of science you’ll need to be able to teach yourself what you need to know for the MCAT and for med school.
tl;dr prepare on your own and don’t waste your tuition $$ by taking no-credit classes.
No.
No.
Like WOWMom says, either take a prep course (e.g. Kaplan) or buy prep books (e.g. Kaplan) and study on your own. Undergrad is not MCAT prep:

What was your exam score?
I scored a 4 for the Biology AP test during my high school junior year. I’m planning to review bio and then continuing with BILD 3. Like the other commenters had suggested, I will look into MCAT prep in the future.
