I'm a sophomore this year and taking honors precalc. I have the highest grade in the class with an A+, and want to take the math 2 subject test in June. I am also taking one AP test this year (stats) and that test is Friday next week, so I can probably start studying for the subject test next weekend. But am I making the right decision to take it this year? I know it only goes up to precalc, but I will I have an advantage of taking it after calc bc? I figured that the information will still be fresh in my mind this year, plus I only have one ap test to worry about this year, and next year I will take the chem subject test too, so I think this will make everything easier for next year. Also, I figure if I don't do as well as I hope, I can retake it next year. Any suggestions?

Math skill would not be forgotten easily. Remember the test cover maths you learned in the past several years anyway. However, there is nothing to stop you from taking it this year either. It is just a but more expensive as you need to pay $23 per registration and $12 per subject. It would be cheaper to take 2-3 subject tests altogether in one registration next year. The Math2 curve is rather generous. You may have a few wrong and still get 800 (as other >10% students).

Personally I think it’s best to take it when the information is still fresh in your mind. You want to take it as soon after you’ve learned the trig formulas as possible, because really, a year into BC calc you probably won’t remember many trig formulas.
