Why shouldn't I? What's the drawback? Do colleges see all the scores if you take it 4 or more times or something?

It depends .What are your current scores ?

They see all scores if you choose to send them all scores.

I personally would stop at three, especially if you haven’t seen major improvement the first three times.

My scores are pretty bad so far.

So the reason not to take more than 3 is because you might have to send all the scores and if you don’t improve a lot by the 4th one, it will look very bad?

I honestly dont see why you havent improved after 3 times … It`s like doing the same thing

This is hypothetical. If I did improve a lot between the 1st and 4th, should I?

Not because it will look very bad. Because there is no point in wasting fifty bucks if you’re not likely to improve further.

It depends on when you took the tests, how long it was between them, what you did between them, how your scores changed over the three tests, and what you plan to do before the fourth test. I would have to say that if the fourth test is in the first semester of your senior year, I can’t imagine that it would make much difference that you took it several times in the past, especially if the first time was before junior year.

hunt so youre saying i should take it?

i heard that after the first three, colleges average your scores. In fact, I’ve gone to info sessions of the top tier schools (i.e., Harvard) and I seem to remember the admissions officer saying that she averaged the scores if you took it more than three times. She also said that the SAT shouldn’t be a “job!”

(As in, you shouldn’t spend so much time on it that it becomes like an occupation)

When did you take the first three?

Maybe try ACT this time . . .

I just did. Here was my situation: I took it without studying at the end of freshman year, better than average scores but nothing special. I took it without studying at the end of sophomore year, major improvement in CR and M while W dropped 10 points. I took without studying in March of junior year, CR and M dropped a little but W went up 70 points. Then finally I studied, did practice tests, and learned my mistakes (except for on the math section, which just comes down to my inability to do well in math) and took it June 6th; now I’m anxiously awaiting my scores and I’m pretty sure I dominated that test.

Oh, and score choice for the win.
