<p>I'm taking my fourth SAT this coming October. But to my concern, I heard this rumor that the colleges start averaging your four score. Is this true? I didn't do well on my first SATs, and I'm taking SAT prep classes during the summer to improve. If they do average if I take the fourth one, should I not bother taking it? Or can I cancel my most recent score, if possible? I took one in June, and I haven't recieved my scores yet. Thanks~~</p>
<p>It depends on your June test.</p>
<p>Generally, you should never take the SAT more than three times. But if you are only entering your senior year, they generally count starting with the June test of this year.</p>
<p>Obviously, I wonder why you've taken the SAT so many times already? The first scores couldn't have been very good--and you could have gotten preliminary estimates by just getting the book "Ten Real SAT Tests" and taking one or two of the tests at home. This also would have helped you improve before having the scores start being reported to the colleges. Now, you're kind of out-of-luck, since you've taken these things over and over and the colleges have to start wondering if you're a professional test taker or a real student. My suggestion is take the SAT I only once more--and study a lot before taking it. Then take the SAT II tests immediately thereafter if this is required for the schools you are going to. Continuing to take these SATs will serve no purpose at this point--studying hard before the next one is the key.</p>
